Compassionate, Evidence-Based Support for a Healthier Future
At Physicians Premiere Weight & Wellness Center, we understand that childhood obesity is a complex, chronic condition—one that requires individualized, family-centered care rooted in science. Led by a board-certified obesity medicine specialist, our pediatric program follows the latest clinical guidelines to address weight-related health concerns in children and teens with compassion and expertise.
Why Pediatric Obesity Matters
- 1 in 5 U.S. children are affected by obesity.
- Children with obesity are more likely to face physical health issues such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain, and sleep apnea.
- Obesity also impacts emotional well-being, self-esteem, and social development.
Early intervention is key. With the right support, children can achieve better health outcomes and prevent lifelong complications.
Our Approach to Pediatric Weight Management
Our program aligns with American Association of Pediatrics clinical practice guidelines and Obesity Medicine Association pediatric protocols – emphasizing early, intensive intervention and family involvement.
Comprehensive Medical Evaluation
- We assess growth charts, BMI percentiles, nutrition, activity levels, sleep, screen time, and mental health. Lab testing may be done to check for related conditions like insulin resistance, PCOS, or lipid abnormalities.
Family-Based Lifestyle Treatment
- Behavior change is most effective when the whole family is involved. We help establish healthy routines around:
- Nutrition (structured meals, balanced choices)
- Physical activity (60+ minutes/day)
- Sleep hygiene
- Stress and screen time management
Nutrition Counseling
- Our team provides age-appropriate, realistic, and sustainable guidance—without shaming or fad diets.
Medical Treatment (If Appropriate)
- For adolescents with obesity or related health conditions, GLP1 medications such as Wegovy (semaglutide) as well as oral Qsymia (phentermine/topiramate) may be considered.
Regular Monitoring
- Follow-up visits help us track progress in weight trends, health markers, and behavior change. Adjustments are made as needed to keep care responsive and effective.
When to Seek Help
If your child:
- Has a BMI above the 95th percentile for their age and sex
- Is gaining weight rapidly or showing signs of metabolic complications
- Is struggling with confidence, body image, or social relationships due to weight
It’s time to have a conversation. Early, supportive care can make all the difference.
